yeah I knew a guy in college who rode everyday to school, only had one arm. I'd imagine his bike had some mods to it

I would be very scared to ride a bike with one arm. That would take a lot of parking lot practice just to get comfortable I would imagine.

That was actually one of the first things my dad taught me when I was learning to drive a stick shift truck - how to shift without the clutch.

I don't see why it's a bad skill to learn - although its definitely not something you want to get into the habit of doing. ;)

It is a good skill to learn actually. I was once driving the family, including an out of town visitor, into downtown Los Angeles and had the clutch pedal assembly in my car break. It could have been a ruined day but instead I drove to the Natural History Museum, parked, and we all wandered around the museum. Then I drove back home (about a 100 mile trip). It sucked at stoplights, but was a lot better than having to call a tow truck and ruining everyone's "fun day".

I used to practice it in my cars periodically just to make sure I was shifting properly and not wasting the clutch.

That said, it isn't really a challenge on a motorcycle.

Had the clutch linkage break on a Jeep while on a trail once. Just fixed it, didnt have to run without the clutch. Never learned how to.

I tried a field repair on my car, but it was the welded bracket for the pedal that was busted. Not easy to fix without a welder.

Clutchless shifting takes some attention on a car but will seriously improve the quality of all of your shifts (you match the speed better, which means smoother shifts and less clutch wear)... clutchless shifting on a bike using tricks like the "hold pressure" trick aren't so helpful.

Just bubble gum. :(

Actually, I had a few nuts and bolts, and found some steel plates (sort of like nailer strips I guess) in a gutter and I tried to make a splint or attach the cable end to the firewall, but it was no go. In the end it wasn't worth breaking up the group or missing the museum so we all went in and had fun, then I drove it home without the clutch.
