the valves on the exhaust has an open/close position. this mod makes it so that it's always open for better flow all the time.

At the expense of low/midrange power no doubt.

i don't think so, the bike felt a little more responsive going from a stop. i don't think it's just psychological.

anyway... im pretty sure the TRE will definitely make a huge difference to add more torque down low. they said they shipped it last 9th, so i should be getting it any day soon.

Wait a sec... suzuki goes to a lot of expense to have an adaptive exhaust system... something that exists ONLY to improve performance at great expense... something you'd only see on very sophisticated and highly tuned cars and motorcycles... and you disabled it?

And you think you gained HP?

What a dipshit.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

no... that's not the reason they put it there. it helps to lower the noise and reduce emissions a little, that's why they put there.

i don't need a lower emissions and noise coming out from the pipe.

and yes, it adds hp... not by a lot, but it adds. go research it if you want.

here's link from the gixxer forums and he even tested the bike on a dyno w/ and w/o the set valve. it has proven to give a little more hp and no loss of midrange power.

It does effect the sound... there are aftermarket kits to install them on cars (and other vehicles) specifically *for* the sound reduction... it also has to do with how the engine runs at lower RPMs. There are some very sophisticated engines that balance the exhaust backpressure to control scavenging. Result is better power delivery when going from for e.g. 4000RPM unloaded to 4000RPM loaded.

It's your bike... do what you want with it... I'll even say I'm sorry 'cause I was being an "O Ring"... just get out there and ride ride ride... parking lots, canyon roads... found a cool new (to me) road, Glendora Ridge Road... wrong side of LA for you but if you find yourself heading out towards Azusa head out 39 and ride it. :) http://www.exuberance.com/photos/panos/ ... Ridge.html a photo I found on the web...

Oh ok I thought you were talking about the exhaust valve, not the valve on your exhaust. I was really worried when you said the exhuast valve stays open all the time
