So how many miles of riding could you have purchased for the price of those stickers?

i don't remember how much they were but they're just left overs from the ones i bought before.

it's probably worth 4 gallons of premium unleaded fuel.

I gotta say VX, the exhaust on your 750 looks way cooler than the big ugly one on the 1000.

i was getting an average of 37mpg on my previous 1000. that's not so bad.

im getting the same 37mpg avg on my 750 too.

i bet if you really run it hard all the time, you can still can get 30mpg.
When you calculated that, did you take into account the fact you were always riding around with only 1/2 a tank??
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

At around the three month mark I felt stupidly confident as well. I was well along several thousand miles in all conditions.

38 or so thousand miles later and I am still learning. I suspect it is a process that isnt going to end until I stop riding for whatever reason.

If there is any sort of advanced rider training available in your area I'd suggest taking it up and getting a dispassionate assesment of your riding from a professional instructor.

I thought I was riding really well until I took the course for my full licence. I was so wrong and I ride a lot better now. August time I am going back for advanced road skills.

Its worth it to me because I intend to ride as well as I can for as long as I can, and accidents suck.

i just look at my trip1 meter then divide it by the gallons of gas i put on the pump.

i always reset the trip1 meter whenever i get gas. i use trip2 to figure how far i go for a specific trip.

Actually I don't even know if my next bike will be a supersport.

I'm trying to choose between a liter class supersport, the Triumph 675, a supermoto bike, or a Honda Interceptor.

It's WIDE open right now.
I'll give you props for considering a D675, dare to be different (kinda).
Man, I'd have ordered one of those for sure if I could. Well, I could, but they wanted full MSRP + $600 freight and PDI, and they only had yellow.

Tough pill to swallow.

:)
Ya well around here the K6 600, 750's were getting full MSRP so I went with something I liked a little more. If I hadn't had shopped around I probably would've ended up on a K6 600 but I'm glad I didn't.

I have still yet to see a D675 and I see K6's all over the place.

Not to mention insurance on the 600,750 would've been more.

Nice, man. Those are sweet bikes. I haven't seen one either, but I also haven't seen a GSXR750 with my paint scheme. It's a little more unusual than the blue and white. :)

I still think it would have been nice to get the Daytona... but it would have been $400 more than my 750, and wouldn't have gotten the nice 4.99% finance rate for 2 years that Suzuki had. I also would have had to ride 300 km to Calgary to pick it up, and then do that trip again for service, etc.

Actually now that I'm breaking my bike in, I'm thinking, that 300 km return ride with a brand new bike wouldn't be the best thing in the world, considering it's basically a straight line. :)

If so I would have to say that's pretty dumb.

But by the time you got the 750, how long had you been riding?
I still hear people say that's too short a time to be on a bike that size.

I've been riding since March and I have the 500, so do you people generally feel that riding every day for 3 months is not enough time to trade up to a 1000 class bike?
I've put about 4000 miles on my bike since I've had it, including rain time, heavy winds, riding holding a passenger helmet (hey, there was not other way!), riding with a passenger, riding with a drunk passenger, and so on.

Would you say that's enough experience or as a general rule how long should one ride a humble bike before stepping up to something stupidly fast?

Inputs?
Call me an idiot I don't care but my first bike and current bike is a Ducati Supersport 1000. It's powerful sure, but most 600cc sport bikes make more power. Been riding about 1 month (900 miles now), took the license test with little trouble, would take a safety course if I can find an opening. Anyway, everyone is different. The bike has more performance than I will likely ever have skills for; it doesn't mean I have to foolishly try and push the bike to the limit. I suppose some people push too hard too fast. Anyway, thought I would chime in wih my $0.02

So, when are you going to do that? You another Valentino, or something? :)

If you ever stop learning on a bike, then yes, it's time to quit, because it means you've gone senile.
