Some lady saw him fly by a few minutes before she came upon their crash.

+1 you hit a rail guard, on a big bike so other than the speed, whats the difference?.

downhill decreasing radius turn + loose gravel + new rider = crash
i got caught off-guarded by it, easy mistake to make for new riders regardless of the bike size.

he was flying by (probably at reckless speed) like the lady said.JWF505 wrote:
ya, we know what happened, he wasent asking about it, he was wondering how you think it was stupid and how someone who hits a guard rail by himself shouldnt be riding when you yourself did such a thing.

yeah sorry about that, i just said that bec you posted he was flying by.kabob983 wrote:There were several factors I'm sure. His decision to buy a Hayabusa was the instigator of the whole thing really. But once that deed was done, there were several others. Speed first and foremost. Lack of riding experience. Having someone else riding on the back of his bike. Riding at night. Etc, etc, etc.
And don't judge him so quickly Verm. He made a mistake and he will suffer the consiquences but many people have. Who's to say he's unfit for riding? He may never have the desire or ability to do it again, but if he tries again, takes the MSF course, gets a more managable bike, gets proper safety gear. Who knows, he could turn out to be a fine rider!
I've been told that I'm flying when I'm doing 10kmh over the speed limit. Remember, to a non-rider a bike looks like it's going WAY faster then it actually is. Something to do with the small size, loud sound, and lack of experience people have with bikes.VermilionX wrote:he was flying by (probably at reckless speed) like the lady said.JWF505 wrote:

i wasn't gunning the throttle when i messed up on that decreasing radius turn. i was riding at a mellow pace but then i ran too close to the edge and hit some loose gravel.
fair enough.Sevulturus wrote: I've been told that I'm flying when I'm doing 10kmh over the speed limit. Remember, to a non-rider a bike looks like it's going WAY faster then it actually is. Something to do with the small size, loud sound, and lack of experience people have with bikes.
So 3rd hand knowledge of his speed isn't proof that he was speeding.
