Holy Cow, I've never seen anything like that before. It's a good thing you were going as slow as you were.

Wow. Sorry to hear about your misfortune, and glad you're OK,

but,

That is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time!

Dude, your axle has all kinds of grooved twist marks on it. Is that from the accident or culmutive wear?

And yeah, if you're going to do burn-outs - you best upgrade your axle. Stock axles on a Mazda is weaksauce.

Actually, the grooves were just from the wheels sliding out and it just leaving "grooves" in the grease. I picked up one of the wheels by the axle and it smeared over.

Nah, I like the truck too much. Also I didn't have to buy it, I inherited it. The truck is far better than the equivalent model Ford Ranger because it's just that, a Ford Ranger, except with a batch of mazda aftermarket parts.

When I do extremely stupid things or when major things like this happen I tend to be in a jokey kind of mood. All night I was telling people that I wanted a motorcycle so much that I decided to try driving my truck on only two wheels and stuff like that.

I'm also surprised at how calm I was when it happened. For some reason I never panic when stuff like this happens. I used to fishtail back when I used to burnout all the time and didn't realize that the rain doesn't help burning out around corners. Then when some homicidal chick tried to run me in my mom's car off the road I was fairly calm too (I-95, she blazes up the onramp them pulls across three lanes into me).

 Those pics...gosh...

Have you recently had the rear axle serviced???

Any chance you looked over this yet to see what failed? What's in that Mazda?

Hey, American trucks blowout rears too. I had my Chevy grenade a carrier bearing, which in turn grenaded the carrier and gears...and axle...and housing...

long story short if your housing is pretty messed up, drop in a complete used axle (in good condition of course, go through seals and bearings!).

Better that it happened on your truck. When the axle comes out of your motorcycle, the problem isn't getting stopped. It's dealing with a locked rear wheel at whatever speed you happened to be going at the time.

I learned the hard way that an axle held on by a castle nut and cotter pin, won't stay on long if you forget to put the cotter pin back in.
