Mistakes happen, and this sounds like it was no big deal. Next time, just try to make an attempt to see if they guy wants to stop and talk or exchange info.

Waddaya mean you can't be perfect?

I have a friend who was splitting up between stopped cars and knocked the mirror off a Mustang. It was one of those pop-off low damage mirrors. My friend stopped, walked the bike backwards, picked up the mirror, snapped it back onto the car, and rode away.... that, my friend, is perfect.

But any form of "I'm better than that" gets an automatic razz as far as I'm concerned.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.

your friend is cool!

but seriously, if i could... i would have walked back and apologize. but my bike was in front of the other cars and the light could turn green any moment.

98% is nothing to be proud of if you lane split on a regular basis. You dodged a bullet this time, and I'm sure that will make you more careful in the future. One thing you should consider is that it could have been much worse. If you were to catch your bar-end instead of your mirror, think of what would happen to the bike (and you).

Then you wave towards a parking lot of something and pull over when the light changes.

What's the difference between this, and slightly side-swiping someone in your car? You'd stop, right? The people behind you can wait 30 seconds while you run back and say "hey, pull over up there and we'll sort this out".

If people didn't stop when they hit someone because the friggin' light was going to change, then there would be a lot of hit-and-runs. Lame excuse.

BTW, what the hell is with this thread? Do you crave attention so badly that you even like negative attention? There's got to be some kind of psychological disorder named after this.

"Hey look what stupid thing I did, come and pile up on me, I need the attention! Come on, acknowledge me!"

well, the light i was waiting for was for a freeway on ramp. so i can't really pull over anyway unless i violate another law and try to cross to the other lane which is separeted by a solid white line.

and c'mon, it was just a tap.

anyway... like i said, i feel bad about this and im gonna be more careful next time.
