This raises all kinds of red flags with me. Do you honestly believe that this guy is selling a motorcycle, went to the trouble of taking pictures of it, yet he didn't bother to try and start it? I'm not buying it (pun intended). The bike ran flawlessly before the wreck, and I honestly haven't even tried to start it since the wreck.
If it won't start and run, you'll have no idea what is wrong with it. I think I've posted here before about a guy from another forum that bought a bike needing "just a little work" to get it running. When he'd finally repaired it enough to run, he found it had a hole in the case (i.e. worthless).DieMonkeys wrote:If in a few weeks he still has the bike and I can talk him down to $400-$500, do you think it would be a good buy? Even if it's a bit damaged? Or should I just avoid this like the plaga?
You'll also be some bank's slave. And if I buy new with a loan and I wreck the bike? Is it worth having to pay for something that I can no longer ride? What happens if I lose my job, how will I pay for it? No thanks, I think I'd rather hold off and save up the money rather than gamble away my money stupidly.NorthernPete wrote:as a certified POS buyer, Id say go for it if it starts up. parts arnt hard to put on.... but if you want to be riding right away, I would go newer if possible....
If youre working, buy new and finance... 200 bucks a month will get you shiney stuff!
prolly a good choice...Im sure my easy monthly payments will be the death of me.... but if you have job security, why not....DieMonkeys wrote:You'll also be some bank's slave. Yeah, I bought it outright, I didn't have to pay for the right to get the bike now instead of a few months from now. I don't like the idea of paying an extra thousand in interest for lack of patience.NorthernPete wrote:
and if you wreck and cant drive something you allready own, is it any different?
And that's why credit cards exist. All because of the impatient American culture. They're preying on you man! Don't let them rip out your soul!NorthernPete wrote:I just cant save up money like that.... or wait the months to do it...![]()
