Maybe she's just bored with it? It's easy to get bored when you're not the one driving.

Where do yall ride? Is there good scenery or curvy sweavy roads? Does she feel comfortable with you driving?

My thoughts are maybe she just hasn't had a rush on a bike enough to want more....???

While I enjoy riding motorcycles, I do start to zone out about 45min into the ride when I'm a passenger. Maybe startoff and have a destination in mind, even just to go get supper or an evening ice cream cone. That way you actually do accomplish a 'task' rather than "just riding around".

By all means, get a backrest! I've been a passenger on bikes with and without, and it makes a HUGE difference. I ride my own bike as well, and it feels downright SCARY to be on the back of a bike without a backrest.

Also, how about taking the MSF class together?

I'm in the opposite situation. My husband hates riding, but he's very, very supportive of me. See if she'll take the MSF course with you. You can approach it as you want her to learn everything you are, and if she decides not to ride, either her own, or with you, then you'll leave the subject alone. With any luck, everyones enthusiasm for riding will rub off, and maybe she'll get the bug just from learning so much herself.

That's what we did. I took the course first, then took it again with him last summer. (passed both times) He passed, rode for about a week, then decided he didn't care for it, but he still feels invovled in what I like to do.

Sometimes, I drive him a bit crazy with my enthusiasm, especially when bike shopping. Any chance you're pushing just a bit too hard and as a result, she's shut down?

I'm not pushing her at all. In fact I don't think I've mentioned it but once or twice since the ride she took. Only when the topics of bikes come up (which is infrequent) do I maybe mention that I'd like us to be able to take weekend rides out in the country. Her response is that its to freaking hot!

We only rode once together, so I hope she couldn't have gotten bored with it already!

I don't think my bike will accomodate a backrest though.

Getting her to ride for destinations though might be a good idea. I think this is all going to have to wait until winter season when its nice and cool in the middle of the day on the weekends unfortunately...otherwise I think it might be too uncomfortable and that wouldn't turn her on to them for sure! ;)

Even though I ride my own ride now I still enjoy being on the back of my fiancee's bike sometimes. One of the things I enjoy most is the fact that I get to relax and hold on to him while we ride. Maybe you should try telling her that you enjoy having her on the back and holding on to you when you ride together.

Some women like to hear that they are wanted on the back and that you enjoy it when she's there. Let her see it as a "relationship builder".

I realize this might be way off in left field somewhere but does she like bicycles or horses? If she does, maybe you can find a common link between them even though it's a bit of a stretch but it never hurts to try. Like some of the other folks have stated already, the MSF and reading about it are your best bets.

I found a like-new-condition bike in the trash bin once but she never rode it (its silly to buy things when people throw perfectly good stuff away).

She loves horses. Maybe I should put a tail on the bike? A fuzzy seat cushion? Or do a wheelie and make horse sounds when we take off! I can give her a set of spurs and she can jab me with them during the trip, I bet she'd like that.

Good luck with the tail on the bike! I'd say try painting the tank to look like a horse next.

Though I understand where you're coming from. My gf hates the bike, and can not understand my interest in it. I've tried many times to cajole her into a short ride around the block on it, but so far no luck. At least after showing her I had an even greater interest in preserving my life than she did, she has accepted me riding on the condition I don't tell her too much about it. LoL, oddly that's been the hardest part so far. She doesn't mind hearing about the around the town cruises, but hates the higher speed stories.

maybe I should get so spurs for when I ride with my husband.........hum.
or not.
you could compare doubling up on a horse and doing the same on a bike. bikes do tend to be more comfortable.
after all, it is a stretch.
