Millheiser's right. It's a long way from the 40hp GS500 to the 128hp Speed Triple, the Speed Trip is a hugely powerful, twitchy beast. I'm not telling you not to do it, but just please be aware of what you'd be getting into. A guy I've ridden with wrecked his Speed Triple last week, so I'm probably a little oversensitive at the moment..... Speed Trip is definitely a bike that requires you to know what you're doing.jmillheiser wrote:The speed triple is a beast, an absolutely massive jump up from a 500.

That's so "procreating" cool!jmillheiser wrote:yes they are. that guy is now investing in a pair of riding pants for his next trip. Hes a member of another forum I post on.Sevulturus wrote:Are those duct tape knee sliders?
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

even a mere 30hp jump is a lot more than you think.jstark47 wrote:Millheiser's right. I just upgraded from a 50hp CX500 to an 83hp bandit 600. the difference is night and day. Im actually glad I didn't get anything more powerful than the bandit. the bandit was about the perfect upgrade for me. Its much better suited to the type of riding I like to do.
my old CX500 was only really suited to commuting and cruising, it was punishing to ride on the highway, had very limited fuel range, and squirrley as hell at anything over about 5/10.
