seriously though... if im ever gonna own a magnum, i'd get a smith&wesson .357 8" . i already tried it at the firing range and the recoil is just about the same as my .45

How are you carrying guns in Japan ? Aren't they illegal in Japan except for police & military ?

Correct Watson, no guns in Japan. Actually, shotguns are allowed, but we don't shoot skeet or trap so not worth it for us to bring ours.

As for police and military, not entirely correct. We're military. Gate guards do, IIRC, depending on what base. I don't remember if the JPN guards do or not (they are the ones who're stationed at our gates. Usually the US guards carry the Beretta and have a shotgun on hand.

The Smith&Wesson is a fine Revolver but I prefer the Ruger .44Mag. Super BlackHawk. It's single acton though and several people I know don't like having to manually stick it every time.
Shoulder holster is definitely the way to go. But w/a large a handgun you'll have to choose your jacket carefully, so it's not noticable.
But.....(Disclaimer-please don't try this!!!!this was during my "immortal period")
I have been known to show up at special occasions (read Biker parties) with one in the hollow of my back. (the Prospects doing security got a Royal A$$ chewing for not catching it )

Although I own a firearm (.40 Sig-Sauer p239) I've never carried it on the bike, and don't see the need. Different strokes, I guess. To me, it would just be another thing to worry about. Gloves, helmet, boots, jacket, ID, Wallet, etc are all too much to carry already
