Hi Jen, Nice ride - Enjoy it! Alot of chopper accessories can be had online for relatively cheap - like from J&P Cycles and Northwestern Cycles for example.
You can make it look great for not 'too much' dough if you keep away from the big names in accessories (Like Kuryakyn and Arlen Ness) though you can even find deals on them sometimes. Paint shouldn't kill ya either. One of the beautiful things about older bikes is the lack of parts that need paint
Your bike has a nice torque curve - and that's what you are noticing pulling you away and rearing to go. Feel free to ignore sportbike goobers like Verm

who have no idea what real torque is all about. To people who just don't know, it's all about the horsepower numbers. But what you and I (and tons of others know) is that V-Twin torque feels much better than Inline-4 horsepower. At any speed.
