Yeah, I'd vote for moving the driver's license age up to 18. Too many dumb kids out there, and their parents just hand them cars..
I'm not being hypocritical either. I didn't get my license until I was 18. I didn't have a car available to me, so it is pointless paying insurance on a parent's car when I would almost never take it.. so I just had my permit for 3 years. I got my license at the beginning of my senior year of highschool, had plenty of driving experience, and I got my car when it was the most useful.
Unfortunately, that would ruin it for kids that actually are responsible and take things seriously. There are always a few that will ruin it for everyone. I mean come on, 100 in a 35!? There is no excuse for that.
I'll just take solice in the belief that when you finally drive again and have to get insurance, it will cost you $500 a month... sounds like you need a couple life lessons. If you give me your parents #, I would be more than happy to call them and convince them to make you pay for your own car and insurance too... that should get some responsibility in your head real quick.

Yea, I've thought an 18 minimum driving age is a good idea for a long time.
Yes, I would have hated it when I was 17, but I hated a lot of things at 17, plus I didnt have enough experience to even have an opinion when I was 17.
I just think you will weed out a lot of the slow to develop instances of humans if you ad those extra two years. Not to say there are not responsable 16 years olds, and even crazy donkey 26 year olds *cough,* but its a numbers game. Uping the minimum driving age few years would save lives.
Theoretically it would lower insurance rates too, but in actuality, that never happens, insurance being a business and all.

I dont know how it is anywhere else, but in Michigan you get your learner's permit at 15.
