What is your bike?

You better get those splines checked. On some V-Stars the factory was not putting enough grease on the splines and it has been known to cause final drive failure.

My bike is a 650 V-Star Classic and it was squeaking intermittently for awhile, hearing it only at low speeds. But it got worse and I could hear it squeaking at city speed as well and more frequently.

It hasn't squeaked from the rear since.

If only I could do something about the front brake sqeaking........

Here is a link from the local chat section of TMW.

http://www.650ccnd.com/shaft2.htm

It explains about the splines.

Took it into the shop. They suggested it was probably just tire pressure, as they had another guy in there this morning with the same issue. So they did a full inspection and found no problems. Better safe than sorry i guess.
