chain is not that tough, basically lube it every week or 500miles or so whichever comes first and check the tension every time you lube it.
it's easier to lube the chain if you have a center stand or someone to duckwalk beside you and spray the chain while you roll forward heh

The owner's manual has instructions for adjusting the tension but basically you loosen the rear tire and reposition it. There are usually adjusters to help you move the tire an even amount (so it points straight ahead) and make things easy. I'm not sure how many different adjustment methods there are so I won't go into too much detail, but the hardest part as far as I'm concerned is re-torquing the wheel nut.
Ride it like you think owning it matters.
