My First Ride!!!
Don't p!$$ me off, people. No first ride for me!
Just talked to the bike shop. My "new" '82 Virago is trapped inside their walls. He MUST escape. It's costing me a tad more than I hoped, but about what I figured it would. They had to order a bunch of parts. They're going to "try their darndest" to get it done by the end of next week, but if they don't, their "tech guy" is going on vacation the week after that. Grr, arg. Anyone care to place a bet on what will happen with that? If "good things happen to those who wait," well then … think I'll start playing the lottery.

You lucked out today. First sunny day in a few days now! I took the oppurtunity to ride into work.
Well my first ride on my first very own bike was about two months ago. The previous owner dropped off the bike at my house and I went right out for a ride. First I just hit the neighborhood streets just to get reacquainted (had previously test driven it for about 30 minutes) and then took off on side roads. Worked up some courage and hit some higher speed parkways. Nobody could see it, but I was grinning from ear to ear.
Since I've had the bike, I've put on about 2500 miles and growing by the day.

My first ride was two days ago. I had just got my GS500 and was tooling around in the parking lot. I had gotten brave and took it out onto the street around the trailer park that was right next to the parking lot that i was starting in. It was such a great feeling to be riding around on the road and hearing the machine beneath me. I still have that feeling everytime I start it up.

It's great to hear so many stories of first rides. It puts things into perspective for me, because I can remember that I'm not the only person dealing with the anxiousness of a first ride (worrying about stalling, dropping the bike, looking silly).
Cheers Mates, Ride on!
oh, and I'll post some pics soon, tomorrow the weather's suposed to be nice for the first time in a while.
