The Aprilia has a power to weight ratio of 7.5 lbs/HP. Nice, but that wouldn't scare me and I'm damn timid about what I'll ride.VermilionX wrote: seriously... it's 33hp. how unforgiving could it be?
some too cool beginner bikes.

The bike has about 145HP, right? If so, that puts the power/weight ratio at 2.48 lbs/HP dry, without rider. Add a rider and gas and that goes up to 2.68 lbs/hp.VermilionX wrote:ooooohh where do you get those stats?
im 125lbs, my current bike is 361lbs, let's make it 390 w/ a full tank.
so 515lbs in total... what's the power-weight ratio of me and my bike?
All you have to do is divide the weight by the horsepower. So 361/145 = 2.48.

Yay, Verm has more numbers to quote !!
I Haven't ridden a 125 2-stroke, but I HAVE ridden the old aprilia rsv250 2-stroke. Fun!
Could a beginner ride a 125 stroker? Sure! Should they? Ehhh. These Italian strokers are cool, but if ridden as intended you have to do alot of maintenance and whatnot. So for reasons other than power, I don't think they are "Cool beginner bikes." However, they DO have razor sharp handling and modern suspensions, so If you are going to be jumping on a supersport bike, there's no reason why you couldn't start on one of these.
I'd buy one as a track day bike (In fact, looking for a 250 for this purpose) but I wouldn't use one as a daily rider. But then again, I wouldn't use any supersport as a daily rider. Different strokes ...
