Bike Storage : What does anyone without a garage do?

were in RI? I have an 06 SV650S and live almost in road island. we should go riding sometime

In a couple months I'm going to be moving into a place where I don't have access to a garage. (Rhode Island by the way). I could walk down into the basement but the door is usually blocked by some lady's car. In the off chance that shes a total dogs when I ask her about switching parking spots with me so that I can move my truck in and out of that spot at will,,, guess I invest in a cover and throw it in a corner?

Covers/tarps seems to be what most do, anyone have horror stories with these during inclimate weather? Any advice?

I know guys like that. A friend was renting a room from a guy who kept his and his Dads bikes in the diningroom, used to roll them through the front door and the frontroom straight into the diningroom.

He said something about her taking the dining table in the divorce.


Me, I keep the Trike on the road outside as close to our door as I can park, we've had some vandalism incidents so every so often I'll appear in the door when I thinkI've heard a noise near her.

I got real, real paranoid when the CG got taken from out the front, but they aint having the Trike unless they can straight lift it or cut the chain through the rear wheels and break the steering lock without me noticing.

The project Bikes are all in the yard out the back and I doubt anyone will break through the yards door (It's not a gate, it's an exterior door) get down the corridor and manage to get the Bikes out of yard without my assistance.

When the CB goes on the road though she'll not be sat outside overnight, oh no.

ive always been curious about riding a trike, at least once b4 im gone

ive ridden quadbikes, but im guessing their not the same.


what are they like to ride, is it an enjoyable experiance say versus a straight up 2 wheeler ????

I agree...LoJacks for bikes are a waste of money...I can just see it now...the police chasing your bike down the freeway on the channel 2 news, then they go down as your precious bike slides across four lanes into the center divider. Just insure it, pay the deductible and move on...things happen for a reason.

I just have a Kryptonite disc lock, and a cover...but when you do cover your bike, make sure to wait an hour or two before covering it...otherwise your exhust pipe will melt the cover. I have a garage for the car and covered parking for my bike so it doesn't really collect the morning mist.

Hey, that brings up an interesting point. A lot of folks buy these big expensive bikes, usually financed, then all they get for coverage is liability to save money.

Then they go about spending more money on this and that for the bike, maybe some stuff they could do without. Before they know it, they've dropped the bike and have gobs of repairs to do but have to eat the cost because they didn't have proper insurance on it. All the while, the money they spent on some unnecessary items could have been paying for insurance.

i think the cops would be smart enough not to chase the thief while moving.

they'll wait for them to stop or park and then make the arrest.
