Test Drives?
Test Drives?
Ok so like I said in a previous post I will be taking my MSF class last weekend of July and buying a bike shortly after. My brother, who rides a harley and has ridden for quite a while said a gs500 or the sv650 would be great to start with. My understanding is in classes you ride anywhere from 250-500 cc bikes of all types, cruisers, sports dual etc. When all is done and I have my license how do I test drive the bikes? I have to purchase first correct?
thanks
thanks

some companies offer test rides like harley, buell, and gasp! ducati.
i haven't heard a test ride for any of the big 4 JP companies.
since you're gonna be riding, im gonna nitpick... it's not drive, it's "ride"

What my local dealers do is take a copy of my class M motorcycle licence, and a copy of my current insurance card on my bike im running now and throw me the keys and tell me what time they close. I know all Yamaha Dealers have a thing where they are giving out test rides on the Roadstar, you must fill out a long legal form with ur name and personal information and that info is sent to Yamaha. Some dealers don't offer test rides, some do.

Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

dealers around here will allow test rides, but only if they think your serious about buying the bike. Last time I was bike shopping I was looking at an SV650 and did get to test ride it, was going to get the SV but got my bandit instead.
they will let anyone with a motorcycle endorsement test ride on a demo day. I got to test ride a Harley on one of their demo days even though I had no plans on buying one.
