Price for a VTR250

So, my friend is willing to sell me his 1989 VTR 250 for $1k. It has 14k miles on it and has a new electrical system, new tires and a new paint job. Is this a good price? I've ridden it before and it rides really well.

FYI, he is getting id of it b/c he is buying a new bike.

That's a decent price. The ones I've run into here were about $1500. If it runs well, as in mchnically sound, take it if you want it.
