i like'em loud, a buddy of mine put straight pipes on a marauder 800, it sounded insanely loud(not an over all nice sound however) but it would set car alarms off in all directions, i love that. my katana has a loud pipe on it but i wish it was a deeper rumble.
i have a loud exhaust on my supra people hate it, its not that typical rice burner lawn mower sound. its a very deep rumble. i wish my bike could sound like that.
i posted this before(pre hack) and didnt ever get the answers, so how come you cant put straights on a crotch rocket? is it the way the inline engine works or something? i know you Can put them on but the engine runs horrible... why do cruises usually run just the same or better with straights.

Imagine a very loud scooter engine, then multiply the amount of that annoyingly pitched engine to account for 4 little cylinders, rather than 1

Re: Strait pipe question
As far as I know running straight pipes can do damage to your Valves.Beer Runner wrote:I was wondering if I can run strait pipes on a 81 Yamaha 650. What problems could I run into if I go this route. I noticed new mufflers are very expensive for this bike, plus I like the loudness.
Thanks

The straight pipes on Harley's aren't always what they seem to appear. I has sone but they secretly housed 10" long baffles inside, look good without the potential Valve damage & also keep the neighbours happy.Beer Runner wrote:Now I see Harleys with strait pipes all the time, what is the difference in the loudness then.
Tip: Never hoon up in your neighbourhood with your loud pipes, always ride quietly & hoon up elsewhere or you may find some repercussions....Like a lynch mod with flaming torches lining up outside your house.
