Shifter extension

Am looking for a Shifter Extension that would allow my big foot to
shift better. There doesn't seem to be enough space between the
footpeg and the shifter on Kawasaki KLX250s or even the KLR650.

Is there a shifter extension made that would solve my problem?

Can you adjust the linkage on that bike? Did you try to adjust?

Most everyone who wears boots has to raise the shifter on any type of bike to accomodate the toe of the boot. Locate the bolt holding the shifter to the spline (usually a 10mm). and remove the bolt. Then slide the shifter off the shaft paying attention to the present location on the spline. You may have to pry the hole in the shifter apart slightly with a screw driver to get it to slide. Then replace the shifter a couple of notches higher. Try it with your riding boot or shoe on. When it feels right, replace the bolt and go ride!

Yeah have you adjusted the shifter? Check your manual for instructions. When I got my new motorcycle boots, I could barely get them between the foot peg and shifter and only if I angled my foot funny. I had to adjust the shifter peg a bit higher. Took all of 15 minutes to figure it out.

Oh yeah, just like when I adjusted the brake pedal, with the splines.

Now I can compliment my Vulcan 750 with a KLX250s dual sport,
except the grips are also made for a child. How can I change out
the grips?

Check out kuryakin.com to see whether thy make their ISO grips for your bike. They are way better than most other grips..more hand-filling and top quality. you may be able to see them on my pic altho the shot isn't intended to really show the grips.

I had to make the same adjustment to my bikes shift lever and it worked like a charm.
