So you know the motorcycle scene from the Great Escape?

Yeah it kinda went like that :)

So dad and finally got the Enduro up and running relatively well. It idles without the choke and everything. I decided to go to his house to work on it a bit and maybe ride it a bit...

Ok so this wasnt too bright. The front brake does not currenty work, the back brake is sketchy, and for some reason the engine speed on the bike will raise every once in awhile for 15-20 seconds...

But what the hell, lets go for it...

So I put on my boots and jeans and hop on the bike, kickstart it, and away I go...the thing wheelies in first gear so I bring it back down and I'm thinkin "damn this thing is kinda crazy" So I start riding around in some fields and horse arenas around here, just tryin to get a feel for it. Its really light, really twitchy, with a ton of torque...AND SO MUCH FUN

Well, now for the overly exciting part of the morning...so remember that revving up thing I was telling ya'll about? Well I was doing some figure 8s in a field and mid curve as I was trying to dodge an irrigation box, it revvs up in a BIG way...this is NOT my hand on the throttle mind you, its some bug in the ignition or engine we havent fixed...anyway, due to this added speed the irrigation box gets it, and me and the bike go skipping off in a different direction.....right towards a white painted fence....

So I grab the front brake...oh thats right..not working, I hit the rear brake...and slows me a little but not near enough to avoid the immenant collision with the fence.

And so time slows down as I mentally assess my situation with the thought of "Oh S*** this could suck"

*****CRASH*****

I go down, bike goes down, fence goes down...

hehe thats right, I manage to lay the bike down and slide through the bottom boards of the fence. I'm a little scraped up but nothing serious, the fence boards were shattered and knocked a good 10' from where they were previously attatched...and the bike, the bike is fine! A little paint from the fence on the headlight but no worse for the ware...

However, I think it'd be a good idea to finish fixing some of these bugs before I really take it out again :frusty: :)

Anyway, thought I'd share my rather humorous story from this morning. By the way I just picked myself and the bike up, and rode it back to the barn. I had enough excitement for the day :)

Did you consider using the clutch?

yeah, using the clutch was the first thing I did, but it was too little too late...

And the kill switch, yeah, I could have done that but I already had the clutch pulled, so the benifit wouldnt have been all that much.

Someone elses bike? What fun is that? :P

I just thought it was a funny story. I'm not inept at riding as I've ridden dirtbikes quite a bit before, and got an apparently good score on my BRC. Some of the danger could have been avoided, sure, but the risks were not all that great, and I think I handled it pretty well given the situation.

I am going to forgo riding it until I get the front brake fixed, and figure out what the lovely revving problem is. Probably the smarter route :)
