I just discovered this forum today, so I joined pronto. I live in central Texas and ride motorcycles, naturally. I own a BUNCH of cycles, so all the motorcycle battery dealers and motorcycle tire dealers know me by my first name. lol.
I love to ride cross country on my Harley tour bike or my Suzuki sport tourer. I also ride dirt bikes, mainly trail riding in the mountains of New Mexico and on my own trails on my acreage property. I go to Daytona every March for the demo rides and the races. I am a retired chemical engineer, with time to ride (after me and my John Deere finish mowing our acreage).
My next new motorcycle will be a Yamaha FJR1300. I would already have bought one except for the yucky color selections so far. Ask me if I like red motorcycles, better than blue or gray. lol. I am an AMA member, and I have 59 years of riding experience, counting the first year on a Cushman motorscooter in Amarillo, Texas. I will post pictures of my cycles here, so look for them. I would love to share cycling stories with other Forum members. Thanks for letting me join your group.

Is that the Yama...with the...umm...what do you call it...thumb shifter? I had read about it...sounds very interesting!!!!
Yes, the Yamaha FJR1300 comes in two versions; one is the conventional clutch/shifter mode; the second version is one they call automatic shifting, NOT automatic transmission. I have not seen the auto-shifting version. I have ridden the conventional shift version, two different years, in the Yamaha factory demo fleets at Daytona Bike Week. It is one sweet motorcycle. Power with finesse!
I am partial to touring-capable motorcycles (as opposed to cruisers), although I own both. The vast majority of my motorcycling miles are made on either my Harley FLHTCUI, or my Suzuki GSX-1100F Katana. Both of them get lots of miles on them.
