Long highway trips - Yes
City Riding - Hell no, being able to hear just saved my life.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

It's probably a good idea to check your state laws on this. Some states allow headphones/earbuds, others don't. For example, in WA state headphones and earbuds are illegal - only helmet speakers can be used. In CA, only a headphone in one ear. In OR, it's legal but some municipalities have rules against headphones. In some other states, you can only use it for communication purposes, not listening to music. As you cna see, the laws vary from state to state.

If I were a beginning biker, I'd probably hold off on it for a while as it could be a distraction.

That said, I have MP3 CD players on both of my bikes and love riding with tunes.

Highway = yes
City = no
But it is up to the individual.
Everyone has a photographic memory, some just don't have any film

Highway - no
City - no

The sound of my engine is music enough :lol:

Plus I have too many other things to focus on as I'm still a pretty new rider.

No music for me. The roads around here demand full attention.

Sometimes I sing to myself inside of my helmet....no one can see my mouth anyway.

i don't listen to music while i ride. in the city there is too much to pay attention to and in the country it's just nice to hear the wind and the engine noise. i get too much music and people talking all day on phones at work, riding gives me some peace and quiet

I used to listen to music many years ago, but I don't anymore. Between the engine noise and the wind noise, the decibel level is already pretty high. In order to hear music over all the background noise, you really have to crank it up. That can't be good for your hearing.
