You were the one telling us what kind of oil to use.

I've clearly said multiple times that I'm a newbie and know next to nothing about engines and oil.

You told us to use Rotella T Synthetic 5W-40, no matter what kind of oil the owner's manual said to use.

I think the burden of evidence is on *you* here.

So far you have not provided a single scientific data point to support your claim that this is a good idea.

You claim to have done the research. You claim to know what you're talking about. Show us *your* proof and *your* research and *your* evidence.

I'm genuinely curious.

A. I told people to TRY something for themselves.
B. No where did I say that everyone should use this. In fact I gave specific examples of people that shouldn't.
C. I'm done talking to you. :frusty:

I don't know why you're banging your head on the wall.

You keep talking about knowledge and research and evidence and you have yet to provide a single bit of evidence or present a single bit of knowledge or cite a single piece of research that supports anything you've said or recommended.

You have a willing student here who really does want to be educated on this stuff.

i dont want to knock your style, but isnt it a little odd riding low speed like its motogp?
like i said... i rarely redline 1st gear. in fact, now that i mentioned it... haven't done it in quite a while actually.

and shifting from 1st to 2nd gear at 40-50mph is far from pushing 1st gear.

Is this thread still about clunking into 2nd gear? If so, I'll opine that it's probably normal. My CB750 does the same thing. Clunky from 1st to 2nd, then pretty smooth for the rest of the gears. It varies from bike to bike. This really bothered me for awhile when I bought the Nighthawk. Most of my previous bikes were UJM Kawasaki KZs that shifted like butter. Those were the best shifting trannies around.

The Honda is noticably less smooth from 1st to 2nd. If I'm really getting on it, I have to be really careful. If I try shifting too fast, the shift to 2nd will net me a loud clunk, then the neutral light comes on (followed by the engine revving embarrasingly loud). That never used to happen on the old KZs. I've just learned to live with it and adjusted my shifting style accordingly.

Cool, I figured as much...It mostly fine after it warms up and the other gears there are no problems with. Thanks for the info.

I'd go with the owners manual until someone you know has a bike that out lasts yours!

Another thing about the clunky is some bikes transmission are designed that way......my sv-650s and M109R both do it.....they just clunk.....It's so that harley beside me knows that I'm just now shifting to second when he's winding out 3rd
