Boots?

Really glad I have toe sliders. I slid on 'em a bit today (wasn't really expecting it). They didn't wear very far, but I'd rather replace my $12 sliders than my $280 boots!

I recently bought a pear of high-top steel-toe boots thinking about the bike im eventually going to get. The laces are long but can be double knotted and covered by my jeans. If necesarry i will tape my jeans to my boots to prevent tangling. They are very comfortable, yet thick. But until i can afford proper riding boots these will do.

Are those Setup Visions available in Australia. I like em!!!! I wouldn't care if the world was watching me walk through a fashion parade. Who cares what other people think as long as your happy. Look after No. 1 thats what i say.

Think about function and practicallity, not how stupid you look walking around.

I got some Alpinestars S-MX boots online. They're well built but too big. I feel detached from the bike when wearing them. Can't feel the pegs or the shifts. I kept hoping they would break in but they haven't, maybe they need more time. Also notice its difficult to get my toes under the shifter with the boots on; they don't want to bend that way.

FYI I have size 47 and should have probably got 46's. I have a pair of Sidi cycling shoes that are a 46 and fit like a sock. Thought I would upsize due to poor conversion from Euro sizes to American sizes. Different manufacturers size ranges are all different too. DON"T BUY OFF THE INTERNET, you can't try on and most vendors have strict return policies (ride in them and no refund). And yes on the first ride the tops got smudged a bit indicating use on the road - no return. How the hell are you supposed to know if they'll fit OK on the bike then?

Found a pair of Prexport Waterproof boots at the Honda Hoot a couple of years ago. I ride a cruiser and they have some reinforced padding but not armor for the ankles, heels, and toe. They have plastic shift pads on both feet (I guess for balance or perhaps to upshift the rear brake? )

Anyway, they are light, cool and definitely waterproof. Look like regular boots under pants.

There is a store in our city that sells army surplus, they also sell other stuff as well. I was in there a week or so ago and found new police issue boots that are high top lace up boots with a low heel and oil resistant non slip soles. The thing that impressed me was the amazing lightness of them. I've worn low cut running shoes that were heavier. I've looked at other boots and think I'll go back this week and pick up a pair. For $110 (cdn) I think they'll be perfect.

I have a pair of Hein Gericke all Black general use motorbike boots...

They cost me a tenner as clearance from a show and have all the features you could want in 'bike boots except hard armour. I don't have hard armour bt I can wear the boots under normal trousers all day in the office with no raised eyebrows.

I've owned 2 pairs -- they last a long time, are comfy to wear, make for quick, easy shifting, and they match most outfits (they even look cool with dress pants).

I'm not really sure about my paratrooper boots. They are cooler than a standard Army boot and have flexible soles unlike my U.S. issued boots in the '80's.

The jury is out on the $35 military vented boots.
