I ride year round in NE Ohio, I'm located just east of Cleveland in Lake County. Have done so since I got my first bike in 1984 at age 52.

Don't ride on streets that are slippery with ice or snow, but will be out otherwise if temp is above 20F. Been out a few times colder than that. I decided with my first bike to disregard the salt water and clean up the rust in the spring. They use a lot of salt around here. Never have used electrics but I have many layers of very warm clothes. Temp decides how far I go.

For years it didn't matter spring thru fall whether it was rain or shine, I would generally head out anyway. I've been less inclined to head out in the rain this past year but keep going if I'm already out there when it rains. Just turned 74 so I guess I'm getting a bit soft.

I've averaged about 16,000 miles a year for the past 22 years and it isn't easy to do that if you only ride on the nice days in this area.

Last November it was 70 here and I was riding!

Don't let the weather or these guys discourage you. Pick up a decent used bike and then sell it before you leave.
When everything is coming your way, you're in the wrong lane.
