if you like sportbikes, it's best to choose such insurance since sportbikes have smaller engines but way more power than big engine Vº twins.
What kind of companies only go by engine size? I have American Family Ins. and i'm not sure how they base their rates...

so the ninja wouldn't have great insurance as its only judged by the engine size? because my friend steve, who started this thread heard that the ninja's are very high on insurance, which is the bike that im thinking of getting as my first.

Call up a few insurance companies (or check some online sites) and get a quote. That's the only way to know for sure what it'll cost you.

"Ninja" could mean a lot of things. There were a lot of different types of bikes that Kawasaki called the Ninja over the last 20 yrs. I believe they currently only use it for their 250, 500 and 650 2-cyl bikes now. The 250 and 500 should have lower insurance costs than a Katana. They are commonly sold as beginner bikes.

+1 Call around for quotes. You won't know otherwise.
