What do you take them off with? I am thinking I should start doing that.
I want to know the answer too.

I'm afraid that at the end of the day if I go head to head with a car I lose and go to hospital, which means no more riding for a while - which sucks.

So I ed up flashing my lights and giving way.

This isnt to say I've not had the urge to follow idiots and do bad things to them/their ride when I've nearly been killed. It's just in the first instance I concentrate on getting my ride out of the way.
I usually leave a lot of space too.. but if someone cuts me off at night, I just flip my brights on and leave them there (with both car and bike). I don't know if you guys have seen the lights on a VFR before, but they are a helluva lot better than my car's!! In my car, if I get cut off really close, I hold down my horn until they move back out of the spot. It seems to do the trick.

Longest has been 45 seconds or so... the guy ended up trying to brake check me, but I was a decent enough distance away that I skipped out of the lane and took position in the new gap he just made by break checking me (this was in my car, btw... I try not to "pee" people off when on my bike). So he ended up in the same position he was in before...

In my car, I let stupid people be stupid. I try not to escalated the situation with horns or brights or anything like that. The last thing I want to do is start some road rage and get someone hurt or killed because of a stupid lane position disagreement.

I guess I have a bad habit of letting stupid people know they are stupid.

Besides... that is what horns were created for.. to let people know that they are too close (and let them know you are there), and shouldn't move into a location. So the way I see it, I'll keep letting them know I am there, until they get out of my personal space.

x2, I really just take a deep breath and let it slide. Its not worth the damage to my vehicle or injury to myself if the other person decides to be a complete idiot (like cut me off and then slam on the brakes when I honk). I only use the horn if I am in an avoidance, so as to let the person know I am there and limit the possibility of a wreck. I don't do the 'revenge' horn/light thing.

Fact is, I don't have alot of faith in people...I think most people are complete idiots and will react purely on raging emotion when in their cars. No offense, world  .

/agree. I view anyone else on the road, at anytime, in any vehicle, as a rabid wolverine that has an especially sharp toothed baby alligator biting its testicles. I stay as far away as hunanly possible, all the while wishing that all cars/bikes came with belt fed m249s equipped.

I'll definitely second that one... but since they don't... I'm gonna have to get really good with my 9mm left-handed, since the throttle is on the right! Or a 12-gauge might work too (but might also throw you off...

But this doesn't let them know they're stupid.

It pisses them off and makes them think you're stupid.

The problem is that stupid people do not know they are stupid, and no amount of logic will convince them otherwise, because they are too stupid to understand

Probably wasnt the smartest thing to do but 3 VW's driven by young women all pulled the same "crumb" and I lost it on the third one, who knows maby she will look the next time she is going to change lanes, or maby she will just continue to paint her nails while taking on the cellphone and drive eradicly
I recall some dorkwad blasting through a right-turn red without stopping, and nearly run me over while I was walking through a two- to three-second-old pedestrian "walk" signal. Bubba goes blasting right past me, wherein I felt urged to drive the heel of my army boot into the quarterpanel of his shiny new wagon.

Bubba pulls over sharply and starts to pull the road-rage thing, threatening to call teh police. A few witnesses lingered around, waiting to see what happened.

I said "Go ahead. Call the police. I'd like to report a driver that came into contact with a pedestrian while said driver was failing to yeild."

End story.
