$600.00 for a 1980 Honda CX 500, about $250.00 for gear. Never had to put another dime into the CX, other than gas and oil.

2004 Alphasport GV250 - 3k after shipping (was $2500 new + 500 shipping, and whatever tax tag and title worked out to be... less than $300). Spent about $400 on gear and $100 on engine guards, and $80 for a centerstand. So around 4k out the door with everything.

I absolutely love it. Im getting quite comfortable riding in traffic now (not complacent! Just more confident). To me, it is definitely worth what I paid.

I'll probably end up upgrading in a year or two, and keep my current bike as well. I love the 60mpg gas mileage! and it looks great, is comfortable, and rides relatively well. I want a V-Star 650 or a Shadow though...

Paid $2400 a few weeks ago for my Honda Shadow VLX (see picture at left).

It was probably $1k less than they could have asked, but they knew it had something wrong with it; they just didn't know what.

We found it and fixed it while it was under lemon-law warranty, so I got a very good bike for relatively cheap.

The whole story's over at my TMW blog:

I spent $850 on my Virago 920, it didn't need much work, but I did ebay about $100 worth of stuff. DMV and insurance cost another 200 bucks, so I guess around $1450 (with gear). Worth every penny and more.

$400 for an 82 Yamaha Maxim XJ650. Bike is in great condition. Bought it from a friend so it would probably been more expensive from somebody else.
