Thank you for the feedback everyone. I appreciate your input. I recognize now some truths to a lot of what you said.

Man....no matter WHAT you ride, somebody's gonna give you lip. When I rode my Intruder, I was a Harley wannabe (I wasn't). Now I ride a Harley, and apparently I'm a snob???? No. I bought the Harley because a friend gave me a deal I couldn't refuse on an absolutely BEAUTIFUL bike. People love to take some sort of stand, no matter how ignorant. Ignore 'em. Enjoy the ride!

Peace~

Just offer to ride the superior bike that they're going to buy for you. I mean, if they are soooo concerned about the way YOU look on YOUR BIKE. They should put their Money where their Mouth is. Shell out and get a harley, get you those new pipes, replace that drum brake for you.

Nothing shuts someone up faster then realizing they have to spend money. Especially on something that they won't use.
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

All good advice. Thanks.

I should request a set of leathers to go with the "superior" bike with the "new pipes".

people like this do drive me nuts, ive learnd to no pay any attention at all but its still funny. i hear the comments all the time 'if its not a harley its not worth riding' or 'you cant have a bike without alot of chrome' etc. its all personal pref. most people that moan about this kind of thing Dont have a bike or ever rode before so whats it matter. theyve seen all the american chopper episodes and think they are biker gurus now.

a guy i workd with used to go on how he only rode harleys his whole life, never would touch anything else etc. turns out he just bought an old honda and took the msf beginner class. hasnt since mentiond any harleys or riding before, turns out he was all talk and this is his first bike.

i may not like everyones bike but its their ride not mine. best thing to do is ask 'wheres your bike?' usually shuts them right up.

"armorall their wheels and seats" the dealer detailed my bike one day because they took so long doing service they thought theyd hook me up and armorall my seat. it was aobut to storm bad so i was in a hurry and didnt notice it untill i got on the rode and was sliding all over my seat ; \

I really don't mind what the snobs say to me. I bought my 05 V-Star Clasic exactly for the "wanna be" look at 1/3 the price. I also wear a full face helmet because I like the safe look (on me) better then the cool look.

This is a great bike and I am having the time of my life. Let them jab I reply with it you can get a new one too for 6K. This usually makes them look closer.

Remind them they're not riding a Rune or a Rocket III or a Vincent.

And if they are, just say "nice bike" and park farther down...

Drool flows like Harley oil when those roll by.
