From what my Dad's said, they didn't numb him first. Thinking about it is more painful that it happening, apparently.

Like putting in contacts, does anyone grow up thinking "one day I'll stick my finger in my eye several times a day and not blink."

So your actual vision is just like your figurative vision.

Let me repeat, since ONCE AGAIN you completely missed the point. Only an Optometrist can tell you how bad your vision is. You haven't got a clue how bad your vision is, because you are used to it. My eyesight is just like yours dude, as is many people with nearsighted vision - we can see objects far away but not text, etc. There's no way in hell I would ever ride without corrective lenses. Because I know what the difference is without them. You, on the other hand ONCE AGAIN haven't got a clue - Even about your own vision. That's sad dude. Really.

In the state of CA do they make you read a line of letters before they'll renew your license?

They do in TX. I went to get my license re-newed once when I didn't have my contacts in (long story and no I wasn't driving) and I had to come back the next day to read that line.

yes, and i got lucky.

i could barely read it and i just muttered a bunch of letters silently and when the tester tried to repeat what i said... i just said "yeah, that's what i said"

and she passed me... i think she was just nice though.

i'd hate to be restricted to wearing vision correction on my lic.

next time, i'll memorize the whole chart before the eye exam or just wear contacts.

If you get contacts you're going to be restricted anyways. They will know.

Just get the eye test/lenses dude. I have a big 'A' on my license and it doesn't bother me at all.

Nor any of the other riders/cagers on the road.

You are, seriously, being ridiculous about this.

seriously though... i have another question though... is there a frame that will not hurt your ears and nose even if you wear them for long periods of time?

If you're having trouble passing the vision test, you're a road hazard. Deal with your vanity, it's going to get you killed. Or some one else, don't be Billy Lane.

Frames are bothersome at first, yes, but after a while you don't even notice they're there.

That is, until you're not wearing them and you keep wondering 'where the hell did my glasses go.

And they'll know because the DMV is through the state. Your medical records also go through the state.

i can see people, cars, bikes, etc real fine from afar.

BUT...

can i tell their plate #? no

can i tell what's written on their shirts? no

can i see their face clearly? no

i can see them enough to avoid hitting them by accident. only way i'll miss them is if i wasn't looking at all.

also, my peripheral vision is good.

But at the end of the ride you're still visually impaired.
