OMG how did this thread go from talking about MD to verms eyesight???? Please drop verms eyesight as I dont want to have to come back and read 3 pages of garbage about verms eyesite. I would rather know what others have done and do with a blind spot. So far I gather that most people learn to cope and do more looking with the good parts of the eyes. So far I have had no issues in seeing things (hell I saw deer trying to cross the road about 1/4 mile down the road tonight on my way to work which yes its pitch black out). That doesnt mean I wont ever but so far it hasnt affected my riding much. I figure if I can see deer when its pitch black out 1/4 mile down the road I aint doing to bad lol. Course at that distance all I saw was the silhouette of them moving across the road but I know they were deer cause they were sitting on the side of the road stairing at me as I went by lol. Does anyone here ride with the use of only 1 eye? Meaning maybe 1 eye is a glass eye or you just have no vision whatsoever in 1 eye?
had a driver some time ago who had a glass eye.he had a daytime only liecence.
my left eye is slightly sore this morning(laser done yesterday)but my eye sight is as good as it ever was.as long as i get no more bleeds i should be okay.this is not the first laser ive had .but it is the most serious.xjrjohn
biking isnt a matter of life or death, its far more important(bill shankley, well almost)

heeh I wasnt talking about your posts verm I was talking about the others. I didnt mind it at first because it got the point across to you but when I come back to the thread and there are 3 pages saying the same friggen thing as the first couple pages is when it becomes excessive. I have no problem with someone asking ?'s and defending themselves but I do have a problem with 13 people saying the same thing that was said 13 posts ago. It leads to no where but to a flaming post that is not needed.
thank you XJRJohn for your posts as it makes me feel better and not so "down" about having this permanent blind area on my eye.
not a problem.it was a bit weird to come home from hostpital after the op ans find somebody in the same postion on here.ive got three weeks to wait now but its looking good at the moment.xjrjohn

You kept that quiet!
In guess you'll not be watching Goldfinger anytime soon!
I got smacke in the face, broke my nose, with a baseball bat after the batter let it fly, and since then at age 8 I have had double vision. My optometrist just kept giving me thicker glasses to make single vision, until last year at age 56, I finally went to see my doctor for a regular physical. He noticed that my nose was bleeding/scabbed from my glasses and asked why. I told him they had to be so thick because of my double vision. He made an appointment with a specialist and now, at 57, I have single vision once again. He froze, with drops, my left eye, put a couple of stitches in the muscles and while awake, he had me look at a grid while he pulled the stitches, which turned my eyeball to mear perfect. Now my glasses are so thin, but I still have near-sightedness, which can now be corrected wiuth Lasix, or contacts. I used to wear contacts about 40 years ago, until my buddy's girfriend drank them. They were in a glass in the bathroom and she needed a drink in the middle of the night. They were hard plastic ones and my eyesight actually improved over a couple of years because, and it is commonly used now, they actually moulded my cornea.
Anyhow, I also now have a bit of Macular Degeneration in the left eye, just above and to the left of centre. I'm glad I read this thread because now I'll get my Dr. to set up another appointment to have that fixed, if possible.
I'm glad most of you are taking care of your eyese--they are the only ones you'll ever have. Years ago I drove a truck. We convoyed up the east side of the Rockies following a trucker with a Crimson-like attitude: cheated on the eye exam. This fellow knew he couldn't see squat, especially at night, so he mounted a half-dozen sets of high-wattage fog and driving lights. We'll just let the rolling light show go first on this dark and stormy night, and follow taillights over the pass.
Anyway, we go stoking up the mountain following the taillights ahead of us through the fog, and this guy with the lights leading us into oblivion slams on the brakes. We call up on the CB and ask what is going on, and he claims he saw a pink elephant cross the road in front of him.
Uh, okay, drive on. A few minutes later, he slams on the brakes again, and again claims he saw a pink elephant cross the road. Like what kind of pocket rockets you been downing, dude?
Drive on a little ways, on this 7% downhill grade, and he slams on the brakes again, another pink elephant. We rag him pretty good about him not going to get his eyes checked, about pocket rockets, and about his mental state, but he's all shook up. I mean, he's shaking like he's seen a ghost. He's making promises to God and everything. Someone's codriver climbs up in his pneumatic, and he takes the princess seat.
We finally get over the pass and down out of the clouds, and lo, on down the valley a mile or so ahead, is the last truck in a circus convoy, with a huge PINK ELEPHANT painted across the tail.
Get your eyes checked, Crimson. You're a menace to this sport's future.
^i^ ^i^ ^i^ ^i^ ^i^ for the rest of you trying to take care of yourselves the best you can.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.
