My FZ6 had a center stand. One time I put it up on the stand on some unexpectedly soft asphault and when I came back the rear wheel was all the way down and the center stand had sunk! I was able to pull it out, but it made a mess of the center stand base. Still, it didn't fall over.TechTMW wrote:Nope, I always park on the centerstand.
I do now try to carry something as a kickstand plate now, since my current stand is tiny and the bike leans pretty hard by default.

I try to always have/use one on a sport bike.
With my
s I try to always use one. Some shops I have been to use them like business cards, i.e. they are free. Go by a custom parts shop.
Now, when I had a cruiser, I never used one, and the bottom of the kickstand was the size of a soup spoon
In a pinch... A piece of tree bark, a crushed can/plastic bottle, crushed cigarette packet, a pice of paper folded over several times, stack of business cards. Anything that will either be a cushion or spread the weight over a larger area than the kickstand does. It is amazing what you'll find in a parking lot that will work

Don't think of it as a stop light. Think of it as a chance-to-show-off light.

its really nice about parking bikes around here...all the on-campus motorcycle parking is on concrete...they actually took out the pavement for that exact reason...to keep sidestands from damaging things.
Work I park on concrete as well...only places I really need one are at the horticulture gardens(gravel) and random parking lots I suppose..
