if you only have liablilty insurance... then it doesn't matter.

although... if i were you... i'd still fully insure that bike eventhough you bought it cash. that's an expensive bike to fix out of your pocket.

but then again... you're probably loaded so out of pocket cost probably isn't even an issue for you.

IM NOT LOADED IF I SOLD MY CAR FOR THAT BIKE!!! , now i drive my jeep that i bought from my cousin, with 170000 miles on it, That and ive been saving for it since my first paycheck, but i must admit ,between all of that saving and selling my car i do have the power to get another bike   I have been eyeing a silver Yamaha R1 04 at this dealer , and i might buy that one too, and use the Gsxr1000 for the track

I'm 99% sure that no insurance companies will cover you while you are at the track. That is outside of their coverage protection.

If you want to get another bike for the track, I might recommend you get a smaller bike. You can get a cheap ninja 500, or gs500, or even go into the ninja 250 class. It will still give you great track experience, you can ride the cheap bike to its limits without worrying too much about dumping it, and you will learn a ton!!

I wouldn't buy a Ninja 250 for track days... you'll just end up regretting that you spent so much on a GSX-R1000.

 ,, i bought the bike to do some visual and engine mods, but i think im gonna save that for the yamaha R1, i like the way it looks more than the gixxer,, and im gonna do alot of mods to it. SO thats why i wont be to unhappy if i dump the gixxer

Some companies do cover bikes on the track as long as they are not racing. Track Days are not technically races so check with your company to see if you're covered. I know of a few guys in my club who are covered. I could have checked before I went but since all I have is liability it wouldn't have mattered.

Call your company and make sure that they understand that you won't be racing, you might be surprised at some of their answers!

Some companies definitely will cover you for track SCHOOL, since you can sell it to them as a safety course rather than a race school. Open track days with no coaches on site can be a little more ambiguous. Racing, no coverage no way. YMMV.[/b]

Check out Lone Star Track Days at www.lstd.com. They have a day coming up in Cresson (towards Granbury) on Monday the 25th, I believe.

Get a smaller track bike or get bigger balls. The pair of you.

I'm sure everyone here is impressed at the risks you are willing to take when your bikes are covered by premiums that are paid by your more responsible neighbours.

Go here.
