If you want to get another bike for the track, I might recommend you get a smaller bike. You can get a cheap ninja 500, or gs500, or even go into the ninja 250 class. It will still give you great track experience, you can ride the cheap bike to its limits without worrying too much about dumping it, and you will learn a ton!!
Some companies do cover bikes on the track as long as they are not racing. Track Days are not technically races so check with your company to see if you're covered. I know of a few guys in my club who are covered. I could have checked before I went but since all I have is liability it wouldn't have mattered.

Call your company and make sure that they understand that you won't be racing, you might be surprised at some of their answers!

yep... that's what im gonna say/ask to my insurance agent.

im gonna attend this motorcycle training school but it just so happens that it's being held in a racetrack for that controlled environment setting.

My lovely wife just bought me a track day pass for my birthday.

Insurance or not I am riding out to the track, wringing my bikes neck all day and riding home. If I crash the bike or blow it up, too bad. It could happen anywhere but I would much rather come off heading towards a gravel trap that a gutter.

You are missing the point, by a very large margin here Verm.

And it all comes back into choice of ride. You're bike is worth more than you can afford to repair/replace if left to your own devices - so you are scared to take it to the track and run it the way it should be run there.

As has been pointed out many times your bike is not fit for purpose.

If you don't have the balls to take the bike you have or the wherewithal to lay your hands on a disposable 'track' bike I really don't want to read a single complaint from you that you cannot go to track days. Okay?

Harsh? Yes. Fair? Certainly.

Buy one or grow some.

yeah... you're right. that's what full coverage insurance is for.

and if im not gonna be covered on a trackday by AAA... then so be it, i will not complain about it.

i'll just stick to canyon riding. i have a lot of choices of canyons here in SoCal. but like i said... if i ever get bored of the canyons, then i'll risk it all on the tracks.

Look heres the way it is Verm. People get angry with you because you fail to take responsibility.

In essence here you are saying that you don't have the skill to ride the bike to its limit on the track and don't have the wallet to repair it if you drop it but it's okay...

Because all the other poor schmucks that pay insurance premiums will pay for your accident damage.

However here is the critical part Verm - you are choosing to put yourself in harms way when you ride on the track and you are not taking responsibility for that.

Thats the diffenece when Minty is going to a track day, he is putting himself in harms way and he is taking responsibility for that.

If you choose to do something then, as am adult man, you should take responsibilty for the consequences - good and bad. It's pretty basic stuff Verm, but it has a lot to do with why you are seen as younger than you are and why members here get angry with you.

Now on a post over in the new riders section you were talking about dropping $1750 on a suspension setup, which because you are afraid to take your bike to the edge you are not going to need.

So why not drop that money on a track bike you can afford to throw down the road a few times while learning your craft.

When you start taking responsibility then you will be a good man Verm - it's why I waste my time on you - but I am guessing that right now you'll probably not ready and will come up with another excuse.

It is a completely different style of riding. On a track it is all out, balls to the wall stuff. No heading into a corner at 9/10ths just in case there is a brick in the middle of the road or a car in your lane. It is flat out, as fast as you can go.

There is nothing like it.

The earliest I could get in was Oct 14 but if there are some photographers there verm, I will show you exactly how capable a Diablo Strada is...

i think having no insurance is more of a sign of being irresponsible and against the law in our state.

im one of the poor schmucks. i see accidents happen a lot when i ride and the TV/radio news... do i complain about them raising my premiums? nope. there's nothing you can do about it.

i don't see your point... people pay for insurance so that they don't have to suffer huge out of pocket cost. i fail to see where irresponsibility comes in when you depend on the insurance you pay for.

regarding the suspension upgrade im thinking about. it will make my ride comfortable and a lot better. i see nothing wrong w/ it. even for street riders... a great suspension will go a long way. right now, it's just too bumpy since the stock suspension can't be adjusted for my weight. i think they're designed for people around 150-180lbs range.

besides... $1700 is not even half of what a decent older race bike would cost.

im not making excuses. i'd love to go to a trackday. i just don't wanna risk it all out there (unless im covered by my insurance) since my bike could easily be totalled there whether it's my fault or not.

im willing to push my myself BUT not the chance of losing my bike and not be covered by insurance.
