Help with chain adjustment/chain life - Honda 750 Shadow
I am new to motorcycle riding so please forgive my ignorance. I have an 03 Honda Shadow Spirit 750 that I just bought used. The chain is supposed to only have 3/4 in. play but it has close to 2 inches. I am wondering how to adjust the chain, the screws in the back that moves the wheel forward and backward is flush with the bracket it screws into. I am wondering if I have to turn the screws clockwise to pull the wheel out or couter clockwise. a friend of mine who has many dirtbikes told me to turn the screw clockwise but i dont think it will go in any further than it is already. the bike only has about 3000 miles on it, would it be very strange to have a chain be streteched out to its max in this many miles? if anyone can help that would be great. i am waiting for my manuals in the mail. thank you!

Having the manual really helps butwith my own honda, to tighten the chain to the required 5/8 to 3/4 " of play I have to turn the adjuster bolt clockwise to tighten the chain. Yours should be the same. I also use a metal ruler to get both sides adjusted the same down to the millimetre.
Many say live to ride, I say ride is to live.
