new bike, no show!!
I am in the market for a new bike and I finally found what I was looking for, an 02 sabre. So I called the guy and set up a time and place to meet, which was a little over an hour away. We were going to meet at a food plant and I was going to follow him to where the bike was. I was there at the specified time, he never showed up. Nor did he return the numerous phone calls I left.
On my last message I told him I was no longer interested in the bike, mainly out of spite. I believe if you make an arrangement to meet someody you show up, or at least call to tell them you can't make it. Needless to say I was a bit more than pissed. Has this ever happened to anybody else?

If he was legit he probably had a buyer come over with cash and bought it and didn't have the courage to tell you. Some people choose to ignore problems. I myself bought mine from a guy 6 hrs. away so we met 1/2 way but I gave him a check so if the bike had a lean on it I would have canceled the check.High_Side wrote:If it's that far a way I meet them at their house (a good practice anyway). Buying a bike in a parking lot sounds all wrong from the get-go.....

Re: new bike, no show!!
i was luckier thank you. i called a local guy to go look at his 2001 shadow. well i make arrangements at first, then I had to cancel because i got stuck working late but i called him hours in advance to let him know. i asked for the next day he said sure, hed call me after he got home. needless to say i called many times, he called me back only once, then i never heard from him again. screw him anyway. his loss. he acutally sounded like a younger kid to me and i had a bad feeling about that from the get-go.mustangski wrote:I am in the market for a new bike and I finally found what I was looking for, an 02 sabre. Yeah - I've bought a couple of used bikes - both times from the owner at their residence. But I can envision a legitimate sale at a parking lot somewhere to meet halfway. But only if they had the title to the bike. No title AND in a remote locale starts to sound pretty fishy. I doubt there's too many stolen bikes sold with titles though.
It stinks that he didn't call - that's quite rude in my opinion. If you want to give him the benefit of the doubt, maybe he'd had a lot of calls and was just disorganized...

You mean you didn't even ride the bike before handing over the check?mswarrior wrote:If he was legit he probably had a buyer come over with cash and bought it and didn't have the courage to tell you. I was set to buy an FJ 600 that had been listed on E-Bay, after e-mailing back and forth extensively, lots of pics, etc. I was planning to fly out to New Mexico and ride the bike back to CA. But the seller just suddenly stopped communicating with me. I e-mailed a couple of times, but got no reponse. I'm guessing he sold it locally and just didn't have the guts to tell me. What a coward, I wouldn't even have been mad about it.
It's all good though, because I found another one closer (In San Fransisco).
