when is it too much?
for m first bike i was looking at a ninja650r, a ZZr600, or a YZF600r. Are these bikes too big for a first bike?

generally speaking...stumpy56 wrote:alright, then what isnt a "newbie" bike?
a bike around 60 bhp or less. the 650R is in the grey area, pushing the limits of a newbie being 72bhp.
of course, there are some lower powered bikes that debatable for behing newbie friendly like those old 2 strokes RR bikes.
basically, a newbie bike must have a wide area of forgiveness to rider errors

50 bhp or less eleminates the GS500F and EX500. those bikes are above 50 bhp.Shorts wrote:Actually, that HP figure was 50hp or less. It seems to have become a grey area so much that its expanded.
Read the stickies at the top of the newb section.
and we all know how great newbie bikes those 2 bikes are.

the EX500 is in the mid50sShorts wrote:By what, 2-3hp?
I don't care, buy what you want, its not my butt. If stay on and in one piece, good. If not, too bad.
the GS500 is 52 IIRC.
bikes the M50, another good newbie bike, have 57bhp.
so 60bhp seems like a fair estimate.
