I have a tribal butterfly just below my waist line on the right hand side. Looking back I wish I would have made it bigger. I'm starting to get the urge to get another one, but don't know what yet.

Life looks alot better through a set of handlebars!!
It's not really about finding a picture you will still like in 5, 10, 15 years, it's more about commemorating something you want to remember for the rest of your life. The image has always been part of you, it's just an artist puts it ON you.
When I listen(read) about why people have/want the tats they have/want, I get teary.

O-kayyyy.... Well, I have a large chest piece of my military branch insignia, a little Red Devil in diapers with my son's initials on my left shoulder, a hawk clutching the Canadian flag on my right shoulder, a Black Knight holding a shield in the shape of the Harley logo on my upper left arm, and a winged piece on my upper right arm with my Scottish clan coat of arms, a red rose in honour of my daughter, and a duck's head with sunglasses to denote my nickname.
Various tats on both arms, eagle on one arm properly done...liverpool......nottingham....same arm ,self inflicted.Other arm,two black panthers covering up previous self inflicted work.heart of barbed wire with "brothers in arms"in it.had that done when i met by bro for the first time in 30+ years in new zealand.Odd bits on upper leg, self inflicted.xjrjohn
biking isnt a matter of life or death, its far more important(bill shankley, well almost)
large cross on my back, of my own design - with "emunah" in hebrew across the top. after OIF3 it grew wings. I don't think it'll ever be finished though. I'll take a photo at some point - or have someone else take a good one.
I've never been able to make my mind up about tats. Some that I see, I like and there's a lot I don't like. I've occasionally looked around for a design that I could live with but I've never found it. As a permanent commitment, it would have to be very significant to me or map onto my brain waves very closely.
I like simple, plain designs. Some of the tribal stuff appeals to me, but in the end, it just doesn't mean anything special.
If a tat did leap out at me one day and said, 'me, me' I might just go for it.
But for now, I'm still waiting.

Just 1 tat that I designed myself as a coverup for a very old design (two cherries). At the time I got mine not many girls got tats. (Many, many moons ago) It is two red hawk feathers intwined with latigo and beads. When I do tribal its for real!LOL
Can't help it, it's in the genes.
1st one was a small tribal on my shoulder blade ( i think everyone got one in the 90's)
2nd was of a large dragon (B&W)on my left cheek/rump- when i was surfing in Los Ang., my surfing shorts would usually sag, so i thouht it'd be cool to have something on my rump/hip when i would be rippin' it up!
3rd was my 1st ink in Chicago- I got a Kanji ( japanese. symbol) of Forgiveness on my left shoulder with hawaiian hybiscus extending from the symbol wrapping around my arm, into my chest and into my back ( Blue and green)
4th and recent ( 23 hours to complete) was a 1/2 sleeve on my right arm/shoulder/chest- its of a mean/angry lookin Coi Fish (orange/yellow) in front of a black background and finger waves w/ a Lotus flower near my elbow (blue and turqois). Good sized piece and the most painful part was paying for it.....
Future ink- well.....somewhere, i plan to put the Social Distortion logo ( my avitar) somewhere on my body....i'd like to put it on my neck, but professionally, its a very wrong move. I fell in love w/ that logo and the band back in the day (1985)- if they break up or stop putting out music, it wont matter.....what they've given me throughout the years in priceless ( by the way- i met Mike Ness and for being such a legand in the punk scene...he is soo nice, smart and very cool as hell...asked me if i wanted a hot dog/ or some lunch when he came to Chicago a few weeks back- we talked about So. Cal, cars and strokes ( his band mate Denise died of a stroke)).
Also, i know this is morbid....but i love my little cats and when they pass i will want to memorialize them on my body somewhere...dont know what i will do, but its a definite that i'll have them w/ me forever....or until my time here is done.
Finally- working on some traditional American style tattoos for my ribs ( very Sailor Jerry/Ed Hardy type) and i also have a facinatin w/ the Mexican Skelletons you see so often for Dia Del Muetro ( day of the dead)- so many more hours of ink work for me to come!
