Kawi does know how to extract life from a model line like none other, eh? Like the EX, the KLR has been around barely changed for 4-5 model lifespans. I guess it helps if your original bike was near perfect to start with. Near perfect can't carry you forever, and sooner or later technology is going to pull an end 'round on you. I'm almost surprised to see this bike, but then you figure that it's just an interm update till they spring the replacement generation. Or stop building a bike for that class... the Big-bore, single cylinder, long-distance dual sport.... a popular class they own with BMW. I think they should come out with a kickass replacement, but I'm half scared they will bail on the entire class. Corporate Decisions...

Anyways, this new KLR looks like they kept all the good stuff and made the chassis more comfy for road use. One things for sure... dropping your KLR in the weeds just got alot more expensive.
No Witnesses.... :shifty:

I love the new KLR

Upgraded brakes
Upgraded suspension
New swingarm/linkage design
new fairing/better headlight
guages now frame mounted instead of bar mounted
(slightly) higher output stator
improved ignition and spark control
quieter cam chain (I'll believe that when I hear it)
larger cargo rack

When these babies hit the showroom floor here (mid 2007 as a 2008 model), I'll be seriously considering either putting myself deeper in debt to get a second bike, or trying to trade in my current KLR for the new one.

had to wipe the drool off my keyboard when I first saw the news on Saturday.

Looks like a decent restyling... the blue is much appreciated rather than only the red i always see as the only alternate to that dark "army" green was the only option. maybe there's a black one... should go take a look...

found it in the current standard 2007 guise silver/black, so 2008 might hold the color over:

2008 colors for the KLR are the Blue seen above, Jade Green, and Aztec Red (substitute the red and green for the blue in the above pic and you will get the idea)
