I think it leaks from the side.. I can go to a certain lvl befor leaking.. I'd say i can fill about 2.5 gal with out leaking...

I think its 4 gal tank.

I think I'll weld it or replace it if I am gonna keep the bike for a while.

thx alot

Hahaha yep sure am lol. Hubby said to replace it if you can. It would be better than trying to weld it. Just his opinion though.

gas tank leak

#6 Unread post by tcreeley »

I think JC Whitney sells an acid wash that you follow up with an epoxy stuff to fight rust and seal pinholes in old gas tanks- I don't know if it works but it is 40 bucks or so. Cheaper than a new tank if the leaks are real small

good luck

epoxy

#7 Unread post by silentx »

I used epoxy( one that comes in two seperate containers, bought at autozone), worked pretty good. I mixed the two types and applied the mixture into and around the leaking area. After about 6-8 hours it got rock hard.

Leak is fixed.

The gas will in time eat at the epoxy. They make a tank liner that will fix it from the inside. Works very well on plastic or metal tanks. I cant remember the name, but it is white in color.
