Picked up my enclosed trailer

I'm jealous, the 4spd auto is meh at best. Also wish i had a trailer like that.

My husband rode in a long distance rally out of Lynchburg, VA, Oct 14. Unfortunately his bike had an electrical issue with his bike that put him dead in the water as it were, in North Carolina.

At least he was just 15 miles from his sister's house in Reidsville.

The thing is we don't have a trailer. Part of the issue is that neighborhood covenants prevent us keeping one, unless it is inside our garage.

We ended up borrowing a trailer. Which was a bit of a PITA. At least a bunch of our fellow club members have trailers we can use.

Anyhow, we're looking at some single bike trailers that are foldable. They have casters and will stand up on the tail. So it will fit in the garage without taking up another car space (3 motorcycles already take one of the two car spots).

Found a couple options in the range of $500. Will likely be a Christmas present to ourselves.

you could rent a Uhaul motorcycle trailer with unlimited miles roughly 35 times for $500. Just a thought for those who dont have room to store a trailer. That's what I do, until I have the room for one. I also have a uhaul close by that always has them available, so that helps.

i heard bad things about U-haul trailers.

but anyway... the hassle of getting it the night before and the scary thought of leaving your bike outside on a trailer is not good for me.

i was so worried on my 1st trackday since the guys i hitched a ride with parked the truck and trailer outside.

right now, the only option for me is the trailer-in-bag. it's $1,400 though.

uhaul has a horrible reputation, and about 90% of that bad reputation is deserved. that said, i've rented from them about 43 times, and I've had minor problems twice. So in my experience its not bad. The problems I had were never with a motorcycle trailer either, and I've rented them probably about a dozen or so times.
Couldnt you just get the trailer and load the bike up the morning of? It only takes a few minutes.

are U-haul trailers very low?

if there's a steep incline... i won't be able to load on it on my own.

ya, the motorcycle trailer is. I've loaded bikes a lot heavier then yours on there with no problems by rolling it. Just get a rolling start.

Or . since your bike runs, you could like, drive it onto the trailer

Its a lot easier with someone to sit on it and compress the forks a bit to get it strapped in once its on there though.
