No, racing is going fast for the sake of it. I can race without racing against anyone.

Passing on a double yellow line is ILLEGAL. Some of the filmed passes are postively HAIR RAISING.

Saying that those folks deserved to be passed "because they were going too slow (travelling at the posted speed)" is irresponsible.

Sure. Impounding the motorcycles of these scofflaws would certiainly get attention. Maybe even slow them down. BUT the problem quickly becomes, "How do we catch them without putting more people at risk?"

one time in the canyons...

i was tailing this poilce ranger. he noticed me and he turned in on the next turnout to let me pass so don't have to use the dbl yellow lines

i love those cagers. i always give them a wave of thanks when they do that.

that should be the attitude these slow-a$$ people should do.

even me... when a faster rider is behind me. i slow down on the next straight and give him the signal to pass me.

If you really want to battle this on a technicality...when you are going fast in the canyon, guess who you are racing? Yourself!

I really feel like I need to call your parents.

OK then verm you are more responsible than those riders are. Why take it as a shot at you personally?

Just take it as informative and know that their are others out there less responsible than you are.

That is a problem that all of us face and something that should be dealt with. That many accidents and that many deaths is a problem that needs to be fixed.

I also ride a sport bike and plan on upgrading to a larger one when I am finished with my 250. So yes that video would be lumping me in with the rest. But I know I am a responsible rider now and will be in the future.

Don't take it as a personal affront take it as what we all already know there are riders out there that are always going to make us look bad because they do the stupid crap.

We just need to go and slash their tires and steal their keys so they can't do it again

Have a great one and ride safe

Yes, it does. You just don't want it to.

Somehow I don't think a MSF course would make much of an impression on people who ride like that.

Tickets an fines won't stop that kind of person either. Heck, if knowing that they have two fatal accidents a week on that stretch of road doesn't stop them, a ticket and a fine sure won't. Confiscation of their bike, (and of course they still have to pay for it) and some serious jail time is about all you can do. At least you know you get that one fool off the street.

As for "pulling over to let a bike pass" If the bike is going 80+ mph, by the time you reach to SIGNAL they're past you. I've had it happen in my car and it is disturbing to say the least. I can only imagine the reaction of a soccer mom with a carload of kids.

On my bike, I've had it happen once or twice that the only 'warning' I got was the sudden screaming engine noise as they blow by me. Once it was two bikes, one on each side of MY LANE.

AND sometimes it is MILES before you find a wide enough (or safe enough) shoulder to pull over onto.

Get real. There are idiot bikers out there.

I've said before on this forum that those people caught doing in excess of twice the speed limit should have their licenses revoked, vehicles impounded, and face mandatory jail time.

The last time I said it, I was flamed as being too extremist.
