If you get into an accident in those 2 years it could end up being very expensive without insurance.zuzu wrote:Washington law says I don't half to cary Insurance so f**k um the money I save I could buy a new bike in two years.

And if you get in an accident, you could end up being $20,000 in the hole just because of damage to your bike and the BMW you smashed into!zuzu wrote:Washington law says I don't half to cary Insurance so f**k um the money I save I could buy a new bike in two years.
PLUS you'd be minus one bike!
Brilliant!

I got quoted from Dairyland at $292, or $162 without underinsured coverage.
I'm 20, male. AMA and MSF discounts in there, 2 tickets (not recent).

painful memories..
I'm insured through Geico Cycle.
I was paying almost 800 but with my MSF discount it's closer to 700. (Full coverage and everything)
I just told them the numbers off my MSF card and they took my discount on in a matter of hours. They're 24 hours customer service ROCKS.
I've never filed a claim.
Oh, my insurance is so expensive because my bike is financed and I have a ticket that add $100 a year (19 over the speed limit, i've learned to slow the hell down, that was in a cage as well) and I've also got my dad on my policy, because he had to ride it home from the shop and stuff, and he hadn't ridden in 30 years. Chances of him dumping it were not small

I have Progressive with an on-site care package.
I had it since 19 and started out paying $2100 for full coverage, $500 deductible for a brand new Suzuki GZ250. It dropped to $1700 a year later (despite an accident).
Now with my Vulcan 500 I started out paying $1200 for full coverage 500 deduct. A year later it became $800, and this time it is now $680 which is amazing for a 21 yr old without MSF and no history of driving.
Some of you may know my brief use of an SV650S before I got rid of it after a shocking insurance adjustment.

Allstate
Full Coverage
It's just over $400.00 for the BMW K1200LT. (But I had a speeding ticket about 2 1/2 years ago, and an accident on my last motorcycle, so I know it's a bit highter. I've also been with Allstate for about 30 years.)
Yes, I had a claim on my last bike.
It took a while to get the claim finalized but that was as much my fault as theirs. About the only real gripe I have is that Allstate isn't set up to give estimates for motorcycles apparently. When I had a claim on my auto policy, I drove to their place, they made an estimate, cut me a check on the spot. I had to find a place to get an estimate on the bike. Dealer told me to leave the bike, "We'll get to it in a few weeks." Yea right. I finally found an independent shop that gave me an estimate. Once we stopped playing "phone tag" things got done quickly. They paid everything except my deductable.

1. Progressive/Drive Insurance
2. Full coverage (100/300/50)
3. $700/year for 3 bikes. Mine is about $275 of that, being financed.
4. Yes. TWO times. (Wreck in '04 - $3K damage, tipped over into a car two months ago - $950 damage to the CAR).
Progessive is amazing to work with. At least in MD.

20k for a BMW repair is small time my friends. Try a law suit for "pain and suffering" and "lost wages" and bogus disability claims.jonnythan wrote:And if you get in an accident, you could end up being $20,000 in the hole just because of damage to your bike and the BMW you smashed into!zuzu wrote:Washington law says I don't half to cary Insurance so f**k um the money I save I could buy a new bike in two years.

All due respect, but you'd risk losing your house over a few hundred bucks?

When I took my BRC, our instructor told us that if we are involved in an accident with another vehicle, even though we are not required to have insurance here in WA, we may be required to post bond (even if we are not at fault). She got this information from a police officer she rides with.
Don't know for sure about it's accuracy, though.
