Ninja 250 on freeway

You'll get used to it, trust me. CeeGee was a massive 250lbs without a fairing I was the sail on top of it! Awesome. The CB500 I'm riding is a massive 380lbs and feels pretty much the same at times.

My new bike, the GB250, is about 285lbs. I'm loooking forward to thrwing it around.

The r6 is only 50 lbs more...

I felt the same way on my bike, but every time you do it the feeling will get less and less and soon you wont even notice it.

Its especially windy where I live, plus you get wind blasts from any canyon or valley you pass by. And I dont even notice it now. Same with passing by double trailor trucks and the like.

As with anything on a motorcycle, its not the bike, but the rider. You have to control the bike, not having the bike control you.

Edit: Ever thought about getting an aftermarket Windscreen for your bike? One thats larger and higher so it will force the wind around your helmet?

I should do this. Actually I just recently purchased the Windjammer II, and the thing kicks major...

But yea, before that, I felt the wind was hitting the middle of my helmet, I could tuck under the windscreen or push my body up, positioning my helmet higher than usual and the feeling would go away.

I didn't see a smiley but you must be kidding, right? A Windjammer II is a monstrosity from the 70s (I had one on a KZ750). Your sig says you've got an '06 EX500. Say it ain't so!

I thought Craig Vetter had gotten out of the Windjammer business back in the 80s.

I dont know if we are talking about the same things... I actually got side tracked and instead of keeping on topic about windscreens, I switched over to a neopren like thing that covers the bottom of your helmet. Its black, and on my helmet you actually can't tell its there unless you look at it from the bottom of the helmet. Later on ill take some pics of it, and put up a post in the review forum.

But yes, I still need a windscreen for the ninja.

Oh, that's entirely different. The Windjammer II I was thinking of was a huge fairing made by Vetter in the 70s and early 80s. Much like the large fairings you see on Kawasaki police bikes. Looks something like this :

I rode on the freeway for about 3 times now and I feel less and less shaking. I guess my mind is getting more and more stiff.



You guys were right ; its all in the training.


Though I still feel a little weird when other vehicles pass me real fast.

I always try to stay a bit ahead, I mean not let cars pass me. I feel that going a bit faster than other traffic is safer, compared to them passing me ( anyone agree/disagree?)
I am not sure if it is true or not since I'v only been on the freeway for about 3 times so far.

You don't have to be going faster than the traffic around you, I'll frequently slot in behind other traffic.

What I will say is don't become focused on what is happening ahead of you, keep your mirror checks up so you know what is going on behind you and you can react if you need to.

Secondly, two second rule is real important. If I am not feeling on form for any reason I extend it out to four seconds. What you may find is idiots will see that as an opportunity to slot in in front of you, let them. You'll be able to get past them soon enough anyway.

Don't let the traffic around you intimidate you into riding beyond your comfort zone. Allow them to overtake, at least that way they are in front of you.

Lastly, and this is a bit controversial, I find myself more comfortable if I am riding with my brights on.

Oh yeah, and keep it up. You are doing fine.

I'v been on the freeway for about 10 times now and I hardly feel any shakin anymore. THough I feel like use bit more torque.
