Hi im a budding motorcyclist who is also concerned about my safety. ANy suggestions on gear to buy (price is unimportant to a certain degree, im more interested in protection and comfort than price)?

Helmet, gloves, jacket, pants, boots. Check out www.newenough.com www.bikebandit.com www.bing.com and www.metricbikes-superstore.com for gear. Sometimes you can get a really good discount on stuff from one of them. Though try a helmet on i]at a dealer before you buy it to make sure it's a proper fit. And read the helmet sticky to know what a proper fit is.

Some of the lowest prices i have seen, but sometimes, its too good to be true.....

I removed my post. With questions like "how safe are jeans?" it is obvious the crazy donkey doesn't actually want to buy gear. I'm sorry to have wasted my time answering him.

no doubt racing gear offers the best protection. but of course, comfort is less.

Leather offers the best protection...but it is expensive. Textile gear is a good alternative if your short on funds. I dont trust the Mesh stuff though, seems like it wouldnt offer much protection in a spill. Make sure to get stuff that offers adequate ventilation if you plan to use it in the warmer months. In my opinion, a sturdy pair of over-the-ankle boots are a must. I cringe when I see guys ride by wearing shorts and sandals.

My gear is Joe Rocket and Firstgear and im happy with both companies.

Look at HJC helmets. Reasonably priced and most are snell approved. I have an HJC CL-15 full face helmet and I love it.

Not very. Thin designer jeans, not at all. Heavy work jeans are a little better.

Harsh.

I wore normal work jeans for months after I started riding as I invested in gear in order of priority. I'd rather have undamaged hands then legs so I bought Motorcycle gloves. I
