Anybody actually working today?

#1 Unread post by camthepyro »

I had yesterday off, but had to come in today (if I wanted to get paid). I've been here for a half an hour, and had no calls, when on a normal day, I would have taken three by now. I'm bored, it seems odd to me that I'm even here. Who calls tech support for a laptop the day after thanksgiving? Most normal people have today off, so I'm not getting the usual IT guys who call (about 80% of our calls) from businesses.

"Hello IT, have you tried turning it off then on again?"

"Well are you totally sure that it's plugged in?"

"Okay, glad that worked, have a good day now."
Of course I'm generalizing from a single example here, but everyone does that. At least I do.

Haha, I get calls like that. Those actually make me happy, they're easy, and make my stats go up, lol.

I'm an IT guy too. I actually have the holiday off though. What amazes me is I support a high level server software and I still get unpugged computers, and power buttons off.

I spent 3 hours on the phone with Microsoft tech support in India. I got a good set this time and fixed up my exchange server. I still have to assist Tier2 guys in our organization and I still get stupid questions from our tech guys.

Then I developed an eye problem and didn't see myself staying a full day so I went home around 1230

DH is working today (Saturday). Thursday and Friday were off. He actually almost got a full federal holiday or weekend off.

I will almost have to laugh at this post...but I'll keep it to myself. I realize how much it sux working on a day when everyone else is off - we experience that pretty much every time.
