All I can tell you is when I when I had 2,300 miles under my belt, I was ready for a trip like this. What does that mean to you? Absolutely nothing...... you're not me!!!! It's a self-confidence thing. If you have to ask if you're ready, then probably you're not....... When you're ready, you'll feel it and you won't have to ask. But good luck to you either way.
Just a suggestion: go into the blogs section and read the blogs of some people who have recently taken long road trips. Blues2Cruise and SVWolf come to mind, but I'm sure there are others. Ask yourself, "could I see myself doing what this person is doing?"
Am I ready?
When I think back to my long-distance rides (like Tennessee to Califonia to Alaska to Tennessee on a Honda XL250 and Tennessee to Maine to Key West to Tennessee on a CB750K4) I think I'd rather not ride a bike down the interstate. I'm a whole lot happier with an airconditioned pickup for the long, boring distances, and a nice sport-tourer for the motorcycle roads.
If at first you don't succeed, skydiving isn't for you.

I wasn't asking for an air-tight, money-back gaurantee. Just an opinion, and maybe advice. Qwerty, taking off to recover every fourth day sounds like a good idea, thanks. I'm taking off in a couple of weeks to ride in the Hill Country with a couple of friends. That will be my longest trip, to date. I'll see how that goes. When I bought the bike, I upgraded to a Mustang seat. It took a couple of weeks for it to come in, so I rode the first 2 weeks on the stock seat. Once I got the Mustang, it didn't take long to figure out that was a good investment. Thanks everyone, for your feedback.
