when do you lock it up?

I very rarely have the need to lock my bike now - I live in a really quiet neighborhood, where everyone looks out for everyone else. (i've accidentally left my keys in the garage door before while ive been to work - and they were still there when i got home at 11pm!!)

And at work, it's in an employee-only carpark, underneath the building, with strict pass-only entrance (not even all the employees have access) with several security cameras, and people in and out all the time...

I do lock it when I am parked anywhere else I can't see it (shopping, down the oub etc) Generally just a disc lock, but in certain areas around here, i'll use my chain to strap it to something as well.

Me I have never had to lock any of mine up wit anything other than the fork lock. But that is because I have never really had any of mine in a large urban area mostly rural and citys under 100,000 to where I didnt feel the neeed to secure it any more than that. Heck even when I went to Sturgis all I did was fork lock it but After hearing about the MASS number of bikes being stolen at rallies and big cities I feel I might have to invest in something with a little more security since I cant take my 90lb Boxer on my bike to protect it.

I dont lock my bike..and its left in my carport over night... about the only security I have is a motion light and my SUV is parked in front of it...If Im going out of town, I will lock it in my shed though.

I lock my bike in my secure garage, using the fork lock and the Xena alarm/disc lock.
I also have two large dogs (Golden retreiver and a Rottweiler), however, my garage door used to be left cracked open like 2 ft for the dogs. One day, I came home to my nice, quiet neighborhood, on a dead end street to find all of my power tools missing. This was before I had a bike.

While insurance covered the loss (less a $500 deductible), it was a hassle, and somethings were irreplaceable (sentimental).

i don't lock my bike when i park it in the garage, unless i'm going out of town. then the bike gets locked. i use the fork lock, ignition lock and set the alarm.

usually when i'm out and leaving the bike where i can't see it, i lock it. about the only time i don't lock it is when i'm going to a friends house...

i just use the fork lock, the ignition lock and the alarms... no additional locks.

If I'm worried I just ride one of my Hondas. They are safer (from theft) in a dark alley with keys in ignition than my HDs or Beemers are on lit street with lock and alarm.

I have never locked up my scooter, except for when new. It has always had full coverage insurance on it. I did buy a security alarm for it, 4 days ago. I also have a lock that fits front disk. But seriously, thieves will try to steal anything. I mean, I am lucky to have lived in all small towns of 2000 people. Everyone knew everyone.. We live in a trailer court now and so I decided to buy more protection.
